It’s interesting to see that Square Enix is throwing all it’s cards on the table and showing it’s fans the potential of their title, regardless of how much it failed them initially. You can read more info about their vision by following this link, and also you can see some of their future concepts on how the game will be changing dramatically.
They also mention that the PS3 version of the game will be released around November-December of next year, and the end of the free subscription time is ending sometime this November-December.

I was right though, by next E3 a new trailer and end of the year new FFXIV :)
They’ll make it free for a while when 2.0 is done so people can come back and try it out. I may pay a subscription throughout the year though, it depends on how much they can keep me interested. Their future plans are very good so I hope it works out for them.
