Keiji Inafune, one of the most iconic developers in the video game industry left Capcom. Inafune worked with Capcom for 23 years, starting as a character designer and eventually risen to the top of the management hierarchy. His latest projects included Dead Rising 2 and the newly announced Mega Man Legends 3.
As a reason as to why he is leaving Capcom, Inafune had this to say in his “Sayonara” post in his blog:
“A manager’s work means evaluating your subordinates and speaking your dreams. Anyone who can do both of those can be a manager. I thought that when I came here, and I still think that now.”
Inafune signed his resignation papers on October 19th and has stated that although he would still want to work with Capcom, he just couldn’t take his job anymore. He mentioned that he won’t be stopping here, he’ll be starting a new life without wasting any time and expressed his thanks to the people who believed in him and his abilities.
What does the future hold for Inafune-san?
If you remember a while ago he stated that Japan is being behind in game development compared to Western developers, Inafune sure has stated what seems to be the obvious. It would be interesting if he actually has plans to collaborate with western developers. The Japanese creativity mixed with Western execution would be an untouchable combination!
Anyways, we hope that Inafune-san finds his happiness wherever he decides to go and wishing him the best of luck with his future endeavors. Many salutations to the legendary Father of Mega Man.

I didn’t love any of his games but I respect his work :)
You will be missed :(
Jun Takeuchi is actually pretty decent. I hope he continues to bring Capcom more awesomeness.
