Via Andriasang:
Sega will release a demo of Sonic Generations tomorrow (6/23). The demo will allow players to sample the game’s first act, Green Hill Zone, using the “Classic Style” play style, and will support 3D televisions.
The demo will only be accessible for 20 days. On July 12, the demo will disappear from PSN and Xbox Live Marketplace. Downloaded versions of the demo will expire on that date and will no longer run.
This is where things get a bit tricky for PlayStation 3 owners. PSN is still not up in Japan, so PS3 owners will not be able to immediately download the demo. Sega’s press release announcing the demo stated that the July 12 expiration date applies to the PS3 version as well regardless of when it’s downloaded. If PSN is not restored prior to July 12, the PS3 version demo will not be released.
PSN is up in other parts of the world, so PS3 owners outside of Japan will want to check their shop tomorrow, assuming the demo is a worldwide release.
For Xbox 360 owners, Gold Membership will be required until June 30.
Time to fire up the download and see how it plays!
