Original FTW!!!
Because I love to collect original games <3 I'm a game collector, just today my brother was mad at me for buying MVC3 while he already had that game LOL! I told told him I just love games to be MINE, in MY collection xD
Original is just different, nothing like the smell of the booklet when you open a brand new game box :P
I do have a LOT of pirated DS games LOL but I don't count them in my collection.
The exact thing happend between me and my sister over Majid Magazine long time ago! we used to buy 2 issues on a weekly basis.
Well…it depends..I’m in favor of both actually.
Why pirated? at one time, I used to impulse buy everything (without knowing the game/reading review..etc) and I wasted a big chuck of money of MOSTLY useless bunch of garbage. So now, for such games I download them off the internet and see if they’re good enough to buy an original copy of it.
Another reason would be for Un-Dubbing purposes. You can’t edit/get into the original game files to put the – most of the time – awesome Japanese dub. I used this for games like Dissedia, Valkyrie Profile, Final Fantasy 4, World Without You and such. Though I have physical copy (original) of some.
There’s patching for Japanese games, good example of this would be the old Super Robot (Alpha, F and F Final etc) and Monster Hunter Portable 3rd which we Capcom didn’t even mention anything about releasing it for the English audience.
A quick mention to ‘breaking the publisher limites’ like Assassin’s Creed 2 on the PC you have to be connected to the internet to ‘verify’ your copy, if you disconnect/not connected you can’t play the game. That was very stupid move by Ubisoft.
That would be enough for pirated, because I can spend a day talking about pirated games.
Why original? Nowadays games come in variety of forms (normal, collecters, SUPER-AWESOME-COOL-EPIC-LEGENDARY EDITION GG). As a collecter, I love getting those for the games I love…sometimes not for the game but for whatever comes with it (like Halo:Reach and the cool figure that comes with it).
I mostly buy the originals for the games I really love to have them in my collection even if I finished them before as pirated games.
For the consoles (Xbox 360/PS3) I don’t and won’t bother with hacks that enable pirated games. Last thing I want is my account banned and my console turned into a brick that can’t even play anything…the PS3 is open region too so it’s cool.
For PC games, I buy to get the latest updates, free DLC’s and such from the publisher…and now it’s so easy to get them (Steam!) I don’t have to bother with torrents/viruses/keygens that makes me cry if anything happened to my PC as a result of using them.
In a nutshell, I use both. I like both. :)
listen to friend suggestion / read online: if (interested) then (function A)
(Not interested) then (end)
Function A:
“Download game : if (good) then (buy Original)
(Bad) then (Delete)”
and yes not in the mood to run debug xD !
yes I agree to what is being said here.
Steam PSN and Live Market made buying games on Day1 so easy and with the original price (escaping the Na99abeen in Re7ab) .
Very hard and sensitive question. I will always support the good developers and buy original games. Note that i said the “good” developers. But there are always games out there that are not worth their price. Some companies *cough EA cough* releases crappy games and spam the market with rehashs that are not worth $50-60. Specially when sometimes they include a stupid DRM that locks the game(Spore for example) I will not buy those kind of games that does not allow me full control of my OWN GAME.
And to be honest, the games are expensive. Specially on handhelds. But still i would buy originals to support the developers if the game is worth the money.
