Satoru Iwata mentioned in the Nintendo Direct broadcast that a firmware update will be made available for the Nintendo 3DS which will add features such as folder support, as well as being able to patch games. Read more about it after the break.
Via Andriasang:
Folders will be added to the 3DS home menu, allowing users to better organize their software. Each folder can store sixty icons. The system will also allow you to name each folder, with the name’s first character appearing on the folder’s graphic.
Next up is patching:
Patch functionality will allow games to be patched or given updates. To apply the patch, you’ll need to download the patch data from the Nintendo e-Shop.
This should help companies like Square Enix to fix their killer bugs hopefully. The way Nintendo wants you to patch their games is quite annoying though, on the other hand; adding folder organization support is a very welcome feature.
