New modes of play for the home version include License Challenge and Training Mode. The game also supports online combat and spectating.

Sega will also be offering paid download content. Players will have access to over 14,000 costume pieces for customizing their characters. (Sega mentioned the 14,000 item figure, but it’s unclear if all of this will be paid content.)

What’s more interesting though is they give us a peek at what SEGA has in store for the online and single player modes. As many of you know Virtua Fighter 5 had some of the most solid netcode of this generation but the functionality left a lot to be desired.

In the latest revision of the game though you can expect a replay save and upload feature not to mention eight player lobbies and voice chat. Spectating has not been confirmed but lets cross our fingers it’s part of the package as well.

With Sega including the elaborate and amazing training tutorial from VF4 Evo, you’ll be sure to get to learn all the important gameplay aspects of this game. VF5: Final Showdown will be out this summer.
