Shigeru Miyamoto may have some plans for Zelda. It appears that he is interested in revisiting the Link To The Past setting in the future to make a possible prequel or sequel to the title. More about this after the break.
Via Side Mission:
“I think it’s important to bring some really new software,” he added. Miyamoto tells Edge he’ll have to consider which Zelda directors might be available for the job. If he’s confident in their abilities to build something fresh, a follow-up may be considered. Lesser directors, he says, would have to settle for a remake of the top-down adventure.
In other looking backward news, Miyamoto also tells Edge that a new version of F-Zero might be considered for the Wii U.
Miyamoto’s comments echo those of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword director Eiji Aonuma, who started his Zelda design career with The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Aonuma told GamesRadar last year that Miyamoto had been toying with the idea of a Link to the Past update. He said that Miyamoto was mostly interested in the Zelda games “that were designed with multiple levels to the world like A Link to the Past, and taking those 2D graphics and recreating them in 3D so that you could get a sense for the depth of those worlds.”
Zelda has been through much of the same in the past years, many agree that some changes need to be made in order to keep the IP engaging and fresh to its fans. What do you guys think? Sound off at the comments section below.
