Google just made my day. This is sort of an April Fool’s joke but it’s functional at least. Also they seem to have collaborated with Square Enix to make this possible (paying a homage to Dragon Quest). Video & instructions on how you can try it out for yourself after the jump!

Follow these instructions:
– Click here.
– On the left there will be a window that says “Start Your Quest”.
– Locate the “Try it now” button and click it.
– Enjoy 8-bit Google Maps!
