Blizzard will not be holding their annual BlizzCon event this year for several reasons. These include be able to concentrate on development of Diablo III and the next part of StarCraft II. Find out more on the reasons why they’re skipping out this year after the jump.
Via Kotaku:
The company has decided to hold the next convention in 2013 to focus on finishing Diablo III, StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm, and World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria and the 2012 Battle.net World Championship.
A great deal of work goes into securing guests, selling convention floor space, generating new swag, and otherwise organizing Blizzards annual fan convention. With the developer planning to release three major products in 2012, perhaps it’s for the best that they skip a year in order to make sure I don’t have to spend another event bugging them about Diablo III and Heart of the Swarm‘s release dates. So the convention has been pushed to 2013, where I expect we’ll all return refreshed and ready to barely contain our adoration of everything they make.
And hey, think of the panda cosplay fans could craft given a whole year off!
Along with making games, Blizzard will also focus strongly on eSports this year with the 2012 Battle.net World Championship. Taking place in Asia towards the end of 2012, the Battle.net World Championship will include the StarCraft II and World of Warcraft Arena World Championship tournaments.
So I’m guessing no Project Titan reveal this year either. Oh well.
