Arc System Re-Aquires Guilty Gear IP

Guilty Gear fans, rejoice!

Excerpt from iPlayWinner:

Siliconera posted up an interesting story on how Arc System Works once again owns the rights to Guilty Gear. You may not remember, but a while back Sammy (who originally owned the IP) merged with SEGA, and during the merger Guilty Gear was passed onto the newly formed Sega Sammy Holdings. Obviously nothing really significant happened with Guilty Gear since then. Today, Arc System Works filed a trademark in the Japanese trademark database…

When interviewed a while back, Daisuke Ishiwatari (the main man behind the Guilty Gear and BlazBlue games) mentioned that the fans should look forward to a new Guilty Gear and that they will not be let down. After Accent Core Plus, Guilty Gear 2: Overture was released as an Xbox 360 exclusive. The game diverted from it’s original 2D fighting game roots to something much like a Musou game. Arc System should know best to avoid something like that though.
